The Context

One17Design Chartered Architects are an award-winning company that have been practicing in Huddersfield since 1960.

With the company thriving and enjoying great success, the expanding company was fast outgrowing their offices in Lockwood Park.

In their search for a suitable building to relocate to, the partners discovered the Old Dye House in Armitage Bridge that was full of character but had remained disused for many years.

Having received planning permission to turn the derelict building into office space, One17Design approached Radcliffe Construction to undertake the extensive renovation and fit out works.

The Project

The project consisted of the transformation of the derelict shell into a functional business premises providing One17Design with offices on two floors of the building including a glass-panelled boardroom opening on to a balcony looking out over a mill pond.

The Outcome

The converted building is a perfect blend of the old and the new with modern steel structures and glazing set against original stonework. The building is full of character and is an inspiring place to work for the One17Design team.
